#SummerOfMatcha - Matcha Milkshake Recipe

I'm not a newbie when it comes to Matcha tea, as I tried the teapigs two week challenge last January, but I've not had it in a little while. If you've not heard of Matcha, it's a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves, that is full of tonnes of different health benefits. It's meant to boost your energy and metabolism, burn fat and has 137 times the antioxidants found in regular green tea!

When EatCleanTea challenged me to create a recipe for their #SummerOfMatcha challenge, I jumped straight at the chance. I picked out their Matcha original, although they also do Matcha & Mint and Matcha & Ginger. As lovely as hot Matcha is, I decided to go for something cold and refreshing, and what better than a fairly simple yummy milkshake?

You will need:

1 teaspoon of Matcha powder
200ml of milk (I went for oat milk)
2 scoops of ice cream (I went for raspberry ripple for the added flavour)

Whisk or blender (I used a handheld electric whisk)
Ice Cream Scoop
Teaspoon or EatCleanTea scoop

1. Scoop out a teaspoon (two scoops using EatCleanTea scoop) of Matcha powder into your glass if using a whisk or into the blender.

2. Top up glass/blender with 200ml milk and blend fully until combined and frothy

3. Add 1-2 scoops of desired ice cream to top up glass and leave to melt into drink or blend together fully

4. Enjoy!

I really loved the flavour of this milkshake, as I really like the Matcha flavour and it's still fairly prominent. If you wanted to you could switch out the ice cream with other flavours - I'd love to try mint choc chip - or could even substitute with a dairy-free alternative.

Thanks EatCleantTea for the sample of Matcha to play around with, and for the challenge! I'm definitely going to be trying out some more recipes and making Matcha a regular part of my diet!
