Review: Always With Love*

Sophie's got used to being the girlfriend of Billy Buskin, the biggest movie star in the world.
Sort of.

But when she and Billy take a trip to visit his family in Los Angeles, she quickly discovers she's totall unprepared for the chaos of Hollywood, the paparazzi and Billy's controlling mother.

And when Billy extends his stay in L.A, leaving Sophie to fly home to Rosefont Hill alone, it seems there's more than just miles between them.

Now Sophie must decide if they can overcome their differentness for good. Because not all love stories end with happily ever after.

You know when you love a book so much that you finish it in a day because you can't put it down? This was one of those books. The lovely team at Penguin sent me a review copy of Giovanna Fletcher's fourth novel Always With Love (out 2nd June) which arrived on Monday, and I'd finished it on Tuesday.

To say I was excited to read it is an understatement. I absolutely love Giovanna's first novel Billy & Me (and that's only part to do with the main character being called Sophie) and getting to revisit Sophie and Billy again was exciting. I love reading individual books, but always find it hard parting with characters, so sequels (that don't ruin the characters for me) are always a wonderful treat.

Always With Love was filled with new drama that they had to face, romantic gestures (hand-written letters anyone?) and was just ridiculously magical. I fell in love once again with both Sophie and Billy, and loved reading more about their relationship, as well as the differences between their family relationships.

I adored how realistic their story was. It wasn't all smooth sailing for the pair of them (sorry for the spoiler, but which relationship ever is?) and we saw them face troubles of being a long-distance couple, which is something I've experienced in the past. Relationships are difficult, and sometimes books frost over hardships but that definitely wasn't done here.

I would love to see more of Sophie and Billy in the future, but if this is the last of them then I am so happy with the way this story unfolded. Sometimes sequels can ruin the first novel and the characters, and I am so so happy that this one didn't!

Giovanna is extremely talented in her writing, and I've loved every single one of her books (there are four novels and two novellas) - she's definitely up there in the favourite authors list! I can't wait for what we'll see from her next, but until then I'm going to go and imagine what the future holds for Sophie & Billy.

Sophie x
