NYX Matte Lip Creams

Now you may have seen in my posts last summer that I picked up a couple of the Sephora Cream Lip Stains when I was in Canada/America, and I absolutely love them. I literally could not get enough of them, and was so sad that I only picked up the two shades - I even asked my mum to pop into Sephora every time they were somewhere with a store to see if she could find any more.

I spotted the NYX Lip Creams on twitter a few months ago, and after finding out they were stocked in the UK I knew I needed a couple, just to see if they'd compare to the Sephora ones. I got Monte Carlo and San Paulo to begin with, and then surprise surprise ordered three more in the shades Istanbul, Milan and Prague.

The first time I tried Monte Carlo and San Paulo, I didn't actually get on too well with them. I found they didn't stay on well, didn't actually apply very well and were fairly sheer. After a bit of persistence, I seemed to have mastered the application (and I suppose they dried a little having been opened) and started to really love them. I ordered the other three shades - Istanbul, Milan and Prague - as I wanted some a little lighter and more 'everyday' and have really grown to love them.

The only real downfall I think they have is that the packaging isn't clear, so the colours of the products themselves isn't exact to that of the packaging. I also had to order mine online (the first from, the second from Boots) and so I couldn't actually test the shades before ordering. They are being stocked in more Boots stores now, so hopefully I'll be able to have a look at the entire range for my next purchase. Each shade was £5.50, which isn't horrificly priced, although a lot more than if I was to get them over in America. They are a lot smaller than the Sephora ones (which are around £10) and are nowhere near as good in terms of application/lasting quality, but the Sephora ones are stains whereas these aren't.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with them, and although Monte Carlo is still a little disappointing because it barely compares to Sephora's Always Red, I am happy that I can get my fix of matte lip creams over in the UK!

Have you tried any? Let me know!
