A Visit To Wilkins & Sons Jam Factory

On Saturday, as a belated birthday treat, my mum took me to the Wilkins & Sons Jam Factory in Tiptree, Essex for afternoon tea in their tea room. The factory is only about half an hour from where we live, and we'd been meaning to go for a while so it was a nice treat. We sat down at around 12:30 and thankfully didn't have to queue, but when we left around an hour later, the queue was out the door.

We split the Afternoon Tea, which is for two people. It comes with unlimited tea or coffee, a sandwich each - I went for tuna, mum had prawn and salmon - a scone with their Little Scarlet jam and clotted cream and then four little patisserie treats to finish. We ate all bar two of the patisserie treats, which we then took home. It all came to £28, which is a complete steal for afternoon tea at a well loved British jam factory.

The afternoon tea itself was wonderful - everything tasted incredible, the service was great and we had a lovely time. After we finished we popped across to the shop, and had a look around. I'd spotted on twitter a few days prior that they did a Little Scarlet strawberry gin liqueur. I picked a bottle up for £19.99, and also picked up 3 jars of their salted caramel spread for £1 and a small jar of their Little Scarlet Jam for £1.50.

Have you tried any of the Tiptree jam products? They're all so great, and I can't wait to visit the tea rooms again for more tasty treats!
