#SophAcrossThePond - Chicago

My last two days spent with Emily and family before my lovely 17 hour coach ride to New York were spent in Chicago. On my second to last day, we headed into the city with some of Emily's siblings, her boyfriend and her mum, and we went off to do a little bit of shopping. I got my first experience of seeing the American Girl Doll store, and then we went off to get some proper Chicago deep dish pizza. It looks super messy in the photo, but it was honestly delicious.

One of the other things on my list to do in Chicago was to take a trip to the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM. It's a bit of a novelty, but I'd seen it all over the internet and being a lover of cupcakes really wanted to go. I got an amazing key lime cupcake, and demolished it in the car on our way to my first ever baseball game. (I kept wanting to call it a match, but apparently that's not a thing there.) I wore my Chicago Cubs tee that Emily's mum picked up for me, and I had a great time pretending I knew what was happening (in all honesty, it's a fancier version of rounders) and drinking a frozen cocktail.

On my last day in the city, we headed up the Willis Tower to do the Skydeck. I had already been up the CN tower in Toronto, so thankfully wasn't scared in terms of the height/glass floor. It was great to see the views of the city. We then headed over to Navy Pier, where we went on the ferris wheel  (it's actually in the same spot as one of the first ever ferris wheels) and watched the fireworks.

Chicago really is a great place to visit, and I loved spending time with Emily and her family. They were so wonderful to stay with, and were so great at giving me a great insight on my first trip to America.
